Scientific Advisory Board

The Scientific Advisory Board is chaired by John F. Remillard, Chief Science Officer of Red Shift Company, LLC. Dr. Michael A. Ramalho, Dr. G. Joseph Kilsdonk and Mr. James C. Lombardo, MS, CCC-A, whose biographies are summarized below, have been appointed as additional members of the Board.

Michael A. Ramalho, Ph. D. – Dr. Ramalho is a speech and audio signal processing engineer/architect in the Voice Technology Group at Cisco Systems. In this capacity Dr. Ramalho is deeply involved with voice quality and voice signal processing endeavors such as wideband codec design and data compression via simulation and modeling.

Dr. Ramalho is a member of Cisco’s University Research Board and has overseen past research projects.

Dr. Ramalho is a Rutgers University CAIP Fellow and a past Industrial Advisory Board Member. He has 9 issued patents, 1 allowed, and 14 pending.

He was the sole motivator behind the new G.711.0 standard to losslessly compress the dominant speech encoding standard, G.711. Dr. Ramalho was moderator for this standard, has IPR in it and facilitated the standardization process through the ITU-T in about 2 years.

G. Joseph Kilsdonk, Au.D – Dr. Kilsdonk is an audiologist with decades of experience in the hearing health sciences. In addition to a past history of an active audiology practice.

Dr. Kilsdonk received his doctorate of audiology from the Arizona School of Health Sciences (a campus of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine), a graduate degree in audiology from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, and a bachelor of science in communicative disorders from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.

James C. Lombardo, MS, CCC-A. – James Lombardo is a nationally recognized audiologist having served his profession for more than thirty years. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Jim has been recognized by his peers by winning the President’s Award of the Wisconsin Speech, Language, and Audiology Association for his contributions to the profession. Throughout his illustrious career at the Wausau Medical Center, Jim built an active practice specializing in clinical diagnostics and hearing conservation. As a result of his expertise, he has consulted with military, manufacturers, the hearing industry, and a variety of professional organizations. He serves as an adjunct professor and lecturer to the College of Professional Studies and School of Communicative Disorders at his alma mater and frequently provides both public and professional presentations. Jim gained national recognition as the first to adapt and implement audiological principles to enhance communications for the National Football League (NFL) and has appeared on ABC’s “20/20″.

Charles R. Stone AU.D – Dr. Stone has nearly forty years of experience in audiology in both academic and private practice environments.  He received his Au. D. Doctor of Audiology from the Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2001and his M.S. and B.S in Audiology from the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point.  From 1990 to present Charles has been Founder and CEO of the (ESCO) Ear Service Corporation to provide Warranties and Loss and Damage coverage to patients owning hearing devices and serves as their CEO to present.   ESCO provides products and services to assist the private practice Audiologists and the patients they serve.  He has also served and had leadership positions many Audiology organizations including past President of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology and Founding Member of the Minnesota Academy of Audiology
